"I am personally very disappointed that we will not be able to welcome families to the arena for a celebration of Halloween this year," said Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk. "I was looking forward to being a part of the event and celebrating that special day with our community."
Since announcing the Halloween Party, the Foundation and the Club have been working closely with a number of partners such as Canadian Tire, Party City and Mattamy Homes, amongst others, along with a number of suppliers such as Kraft Heinz and Old Dutch Foods. These groups want the children of our community to be able to experience Halloween in a fun and safe way, therefore, the plan shifted to one of delivering a "Halloween Party in a Box" to a number of locations throughout the region.
"If we can't host the Halloween Party, then we'll bring it to them," said Anthony LeBlanc, Senators President of Business Operations. "Thanks to our tremendous partners, we have received decorations, Halloween treats and other items that will allow schools and other organizations the opportunity to have a safe event within their current locations. We are looking forward to making deliveries over the next week and giving kids across the region a reason to be excited about Halloween again."
Senators alumni, executives, staff members and team mascot, Spartacat, will be making these special deliveries to locations including area schools, the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, CHEO, the Roger Neilson House and the Ronald McDonald House, to name a few.
