Sens Practice Journal - 1.27.2015

by Craig Medaglia / Ottawa Senators

The Senators hit the ice at Canadian Tire Centre for practice on Tuesday morning which saw the return of Bobby Ryan and Mike Hoffman. We caught up with them and the coach after the skate and here's what they had to say after the session was over.

First up, Senators head coach Dave Cameron offered some comments on today's practice. Here's what he had to say courtesy of Sens TV...

On mixing up the lines at practice today:

One of the things we always does as coaches is we sit down and throw stuff at the wall. 'Would this work?', 'Would that work?'. With a break and guys coming back...you hope they come back recharged but they're coming back in to the 'dog days' that are a little bit 'blah' so throw some different looks at them to see if you can't freshen them up. And we'll see which one of the coaches is the smartest because his line looked the best in practice today.

On if the lines could look similar for Thursday's game:

Yeah I think some semblance of them but I'm not sure if it will be exactly like today. I think you'll see some changes...yes.

On the play of Turris and MacArthur:

I think the big difference you're seeing with that combination is that they're seeing the other team's best. It's a bit of a challenge so if you break them up it's going to force the other team to play against one or the other. But that doesn't mean that we wouldn't go back to that or doesn't mean I want to stay with that just yet but that would be the thinking behind it.

On the team placing Colin Greening on waivers today:

It's a difficult decision. Colin has to play. If getting on waivers allows him to do that then so be it. I can't speak for management but my theory has always been that if you have a guy that has come in and done everything the organization has asked of him in terms of how he represents the organization and effort and that. You do everything you can to help that guy if he doesn't fit in to your program and I think that's what's going on here with Colin.

Next up, Bobby Ryan spoke to the media in Ottawa for the first time since participating in the NHL's All-Star Weekend and you can watch his comments here:

And finally, Mike Hoffman also spoke to the media in Ottawa after competing in the NHL Skills Competition during All-Star Weekend and you can watch his comments right here:
