Sens giving fans jerseys off their backs

by Rob Brodie / Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators are giving their fans the jerseys off their backs.

Literally, that is.

In a special ceremony after Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers at Scotiabank Place, more than 20 season-ticket and suite holders will receive a game-worn jersey from one of the team's players. The lucky fans have been chosen from a list of season-ticket holders who have renewed their tickets for the 2009-10 season.

Names of the winning fans will be announced during the first, second and third periods of the game, with their names displayed on the video scoreboard at Scotiabank Place. During an on-ice presentation afterward, those fans will receive a randomly selected jersey from a Senators player.

All players skating in Saturday's game are scheduled to participate, along with injured players and healthy scratches.

"Jerseys Off Our Backs" is the latest initiative in the Sens Fans First program, which began earlier this season and is set to carry over into 2009-10.
