The NHL has suspended Sens defenceman Eric Gryba two games for his hit on Lars Eller. Here's the video explaining the decision from the department of player safety... 4:15 PM:
Sens TV did their usual due diligence today, grabbing video from several Sens. Take a look:Paul MacLean Chris Phillips Erik Karlsson Erik Condra Marc Methot 3:00 PM:
Marc Methot offered up some thoughts on Craig Anderson standing in there and shutting the door after (somehow) losing a tooth after taking a puck to the mask...
Andy's a machine, I said it yesterday and I'll say it again, he's great for us. He lost a tooth, that puck had to have hit him pretty hard in the mask. We were actually just looking at the mask in the dressing room and there's actually a chip on the paint as well from where he lost it. It goes to show you his character and how badly he wants to win for us and it's showing. 1:45 PM:
Erik Condra spoke about that crucial 5-on-3 kill in last night's game which appeared to tip the scales back in Ottawa's favour...
"Any time you kill a two minute 5-on-3, momentum sways in your direction and that was big for us."
Condra also blocked a handful of shots during that kill, and he talked about the havoc it wreaked on his equipment.
"One of Subban's shots just blew up my skate. All the rivets came out of it and everything. I mostly took it off the shot blockers in the skates which is nice but that doesn't always happen... I have my shot blockers and there's a couple of chunks out of them but I'll be wearing them again for sure. I didn't even notice. I thought there was something wrong with my skate, I thought it was bend in the skate and it ended up being the whole tuck was ruined."
Here's the visual proof:
It appears the Canadiens will be shorthanded tonight as Brian Gionta and Max Pacioretty are expected to be out of the lineup with upper body injuries.
Their absence is in addition to Lars Eller who was injured in last night's game. Good news on his front, however, as he was released from hospital and is resting at home. 11:45 AM:
The epic ping pong battle royale between Daniel Alfredsson and Erik Karlsson continues...11:30 AM:
Our game two journal is live today as the Sens hit the ice for an optional morning skate after their pesky 4-2 comeback win last night in game one of the series. Among those not on the ice are the usual suspects like Alfredsson and Gonchar who require a bit more down time than the young whippersnappers on the team.
Craig Anderson is also taking some time off, though it is currently unknown whether or not he is seeing a dentist after a shot from Rene Bourque rang off his mask, forcibly removing one of his teeth. On a sidenote, I've never heard of a shot off the mask knocking a tooth out. Quite a feat.
Here's the prettiest smile you've seen from Andy yet:
