Two great teams, one great partnership.
Senators hockey is staying in its familiar home on the Team 1200, courtesy of a new three-year radio broadcast agreement announced by the two parties earlier today. The 2011-12 campaign will mark the 14th straight season of Ottawa game broadcasts on the capital's all-sports radio station.
"It’s great," Senators president Cyril Leeder said in unveiling the news during the station's Three Guys On The Radio
morning drive show. "The Team has been an important partner of ours for many, many years and have brought our fans some of the great (radio) calls over the last 15 years. And I know, as part of our 20th year celebration, we’re going to be revisiting some of those great calls.
"From our side of the equation, we’re extremely pleased and thankful for (this partnership)."
Leeder added the Senators and the community also benefit from the support of the Team 1200's three Bell Media sister stations, 580 CFRA, Majic 100 and 93.9 BOB FM.
The radio partnership is also a big winner for the flagship station of the Senators radio network, which also includes Star 96.7 (Pembroke), CKAT AM 600 (North Bay) and Lake 88.1 (Perth).
"At Team 1200, we're excited about continuing our partnership with the Ottawa Senators," said Richard Gray, the station's vice-president and general manager. "With play-by-play of every game, live pre- and post-game shows and daily coverage of the practices, Team 1200 is Ottawa's home for the best Senators coverage."
Fans will continue to hear the familiar voices of Dean Brown, Gord Wilson and Dave Schreiber on the Senators broadcasts. Pre-season coverage begins Sept. 19, when Ottawa visits the Maple Leafs in Toronto.Rookie tournament tickets now available
