OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has signed goaltender Marcus Hogberg to a two-year entry-level contract, beginning in 2017-18. Hogberg has also signed a professional tryout agreement with the Binghamton Senators, whom he will join for the remainder of the season.
Hogberg, 22, was the Senators third round pick (78th overall) at in the 2013 NHL Draft. He recently completed his season with Linköping of the Swedish Hockey League where he posted a 19-14 record in 33 games with a 1.89 goals-against-average and .931 save percentage and four shutouts.
The 6-5, 209-pound native of Orebro, Sweden, has spent the last three seasons with Linköping, recording 51 wins and a 2.11 goals-against-average in 95 career games. Hogberg represented his native Sweden at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Hockey championship, winning a silver medal.
