OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) have signed forward Ridly Greig to a three-year, entry-level contract.
A native of Lethbridge, Alta., Greig, 18, spent the 2019-20 season with the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings and registered a major junior career-high 60 points (26 goals, 34 assists) and 83 penalty minutes over 56 regular-season games. Skating in his second full WHL campaign, he ranked third among Wheat Kings in goals, assists and points and was second in penalty minutes.
"Ridly plays with an edge in all facets of the game," said Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He's a highly competitive centre with strong character who is difficult to play against, driven and especially motivated. We're looking forward to monitoring his development."
Selected with the Senators' third of three first-round picks (28th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, Greig was invited to Canada's National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp in mid-November but was ultimately unable to participate in this year's U-20 World Junior Championship which began on Friday in Edmonton.
