OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has signed forward Drake Batherson to a three-year entry-level contract.

Batherson, 19, recently began his third season of major junior hockey with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Through three games in 2017-18, he leads his team in scoring with four points (two goals, two assists) and is tied for the team-lead in plus/minus (+2).

A long-time resident of Nova Scotia following his birth in Fort Wayne, Ind., Batherson competed in his first full season of major junior in 2016-17 and led Cape Breton rookies in goals (22), assists (36), points (58), plus/minus rating (+16), penalty minutes (70) and power-play points (24). He also ranked fourth among QMJHL rookies in scoring and was second in assists.

Batherson was the Senators fourth-round selection (121st overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago.
