OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has signed centre Filip Chlapik to a three-year entry-level contract.

Chlapik, 19, is in the midst of his third season of major junior hockey with the Quebec Junior Hockey League's Charlottetown Islanders. The Islanders' leading scorer with 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists) while having appeared in only 26 of the team's 33 games, Chlapik is presently preparing to represent the Czech Republic at the upcoming 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship which will take place in Montreal and in Toronto beginning on Dec. 26.

A Prague native, Chlapik established a new Islanders' franchise record when he recorded at least one point in each of the team's first 21 games to start the 2016-17 season, a streak over which he registered a total of 37 points (18 goals, 19 assists). In two-plus seasons with Charlottetown, he has recorded 173 points (65 goals, 108 assists) and 150 penalty minutes over 142 games.

Chlapik was the Senators second-round selection (48th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft in Sunrise, Fla.
