As the Sens get set to host the Tampa Bay Lightning, we caught up with om Pyatt to talk about learning the new system, his contributions on offense, facing his former squad and more...
On having a few extra practice days this week:
It's good to have the time to have two good practice days to fine tune some things because early in the season nothing is going to be perfect right now. We're not where we want to be obviously and it's not going to happen this early in the season so we just have to keep building. I think we're making some strides forward every day.
On winning games while learning the new system:
It's so early in the season and you're not going to be on top of your game right away. As a team, learning the systems it's going to take some time but we're obviously happy with our performances. It was a tough night in Detroit but things are getting sharper every single day.
On his offensive production so far:
I've been known as more of a defensive-type forward but you're never satisfied with that. You always want to contribute offensively so to get a couple of goals early on in the season definitely is nice for my confidence. You want to be a two-way player in this game now, that's what teams are looking for and that's something I'm always trying to improve.
On facing his former team tonight:
I think when you play your old team it's always a weird feeling at first but once the game starts and once you're out there…you're just playing hockey. You forget and you just focus on doing the right thing and execute.
