We caught up with Sens centre Jean-Gabriel Pageau after today's morning skate to talk Home Opener against the Leafs, getting used to the new system and more...
On setting the tone for the season at tonight's home opener:
It was a long summer for all of us and I think we're all excited to start. We have a new coaching staff and new players so I think it's a fresh start for everyone and we're all excited. We just want to go out there, be relentless, have a lot of pace in our game and it should go well.
On the continuing process of learning the new system:
He gave us the base of his system. It's a lot of structure but I think all the players understand it now. We did a lot of video to correct the little mistakes. We're trying to get a little better every day and while we're doing it I think we can still win games. I trust all the players here in this room and I trust all the coaching staff and their structure and game plan too.
On the players buying in to the new system:
We're really all in. We're focused to go out there and win games. I think we're all on the same page and we want to go as far as we can. We were disappointed last year that we didn't make the playoffs so I think that's our goal this year.
On what to expect from the Maple Leafs tonight:
They have a young line-up but a good line-up too. They have a couple of young guys that we need to look for and cover them but I think we want to stay focused on our game plan and on what we have to do. We want to be relentless out there like I said and play for 60 minutes. If we do this it should go well.
On if he has a suit picked out for the Red Carpet tonight:
My girlfriend picked it out. It's going to be blue suit but not for the Leafs (laughs). That's my go-to.
