We caught up with Sens defenceman Fredrik Claesson for a quick talk ahead of tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
On facing the hottest team in the league tonight:
It's a challenge for sure and it's fun when you have a challenge. I think you're more into the game and more engaged when you have a challenge. It's just fun to play against good players like Crosby and some of them so I'm excited.
On earning the coaching staff's trust and seeing increased ice-time:
The first time I got called up I wasn't as comfortable as I am right now. To play in this league I think you need to be confident, aggressive and comfortable. It feels better and better out there. When the defencemen here got hurt, it helped me get more ice-time so I'm just happy to play more. The more you play, the better you play.
On playing alongside so many former Binghamton teammates in the NHL:
I kind of know everyone here from training camps and being here for awhile and I've been playing with some of these guys for four years now. It's fun to have some familiar faces around.
On Buddy Robinson's NHL debut tonight:
He deserves it and he's a great player. I think we can use him a lot in the PK. I remember he and Pageau played together in Bingo and they had a lot of shorthanded goals so I think that can help.
