Sens forward Curtis Lazar offers up some comments before tonight's game in Chicago against the Blackhawks.
On coming back from a groin injury last game and being healthy:
As close as you can be, honestly the day off yesterday helped me out but it's the small maintenance stuff for myself. Coming back from a groin injury, those can be pretty finicky in the sense that one bad stride and I'm back to square one. I have to be very conscious about that. I've had some tough luck with injuries and it's tough to get the momentum going. I feel good now and I feel ready for a solid second half.
On how he spent his New Year's:
Enjoyed the sleep-in. I guess the big thing is just getting the rest. We've been "go, go, go" non-stop. We had a little team function the night before so it's always awesome to celebrate the New Year with your family away from your family with the guys here and their girlfriends and wives. Other than that I just hung out at the house with Wideman and Stone and enjoyed our downtime.
On if he has any New Year's resolutions:
I woke up this morning and was kind of thinking about that but nothing really stands out . I've always been the guy that kind of lives in the moment and takes everything a day at a time so nothing specific but that can always change.
On facing the Blackhawks in Chicago:
I know for myself the United Center is the one rink that I wanted to play in my entire life and I didn't get the opportunity last year so I'm looking forward to having that chance again and step on that ice. You always want to play spoiler when your going up against a good team like Chicago. You look at their depth up front and their depth on d and their goaltending and they're an outstanding hockey team. That's no secret. For us, we just have to go in there and manage the puck well and really play smart.
