We caught up with Cody Ceci after today's morning skate and spoke with the 22-year-old defender about the positive reviews he's received from the coaching staff recently, using game days as a distraction from what's happening away from the rink and more...
On his defense pairing receiving positive feedback from the coaching staff recently:
I think we started out a little slower than we would have liked but lately we've been playing better together and we're moving in the right direction. That's big for us and it's big for the team.
Getting familiar with Guy Boucher's system:
It's a new system but it's a new system for all of us. Once we started getting a little more used to them we eliminate the thinking part and it becomes just a matter of doing it. When you're tired that's what you need is to be able to do it without thinking.
On how he's adjusting to the new system:
It fits well with my game. I'm two-way guy and we're thinking more defensively but at the same time he allows us to get up in the play and work down the walls. I think it fits well with my style of play.
On staying focused amidst some of the external factors surrounding the team:
I think the games kind of help it actually. On a game day you're so focused on the game that you aren't thinking about everything else that's happening around us. There's a lot going on and out thoughts and prayers are with the Anderson family but the games help keep us distracted. It's good for us and good for the team.
His thought on wearing the heritage jersey for the first time this season:
They're a cool jersey. It's fun to switch it up every now and again . They're nice.
