Pre-season Primer: Game #1 vs. Toronto

The Sens are set to kick off their pre-season tonight against the Maple Leafs and we've pieced together all the info you need before the puck drops at Canadian Tire Centre.

Head coach Guy Boucher confirmed today that he'll have his goaltenders split the first two games of the pre-season. Craig Anderson earns the nod in net tonight with Danny Taylor expected to handle the crease duties for the second half of the pre-season home opener against the Maple Leafs. The coach also confirmed that Mike Condon will see a half of action for tomorrow's contest in Toronto but wasn't sure who would split that game with him yet.

The Sens took to the ice at Canadian Tire Centre earlier today for the team's morning skate and here's a look at how the forwards and defence were deployed:

Boucher mentioned during his media availability this morning that he plans to try Jean-Gabriel Pageau between Mark Stone and Bobby Ryan to start the pre-season. With Derick Brassard's status still unclear as he continues to recover from off-season shoulder surgery, Pageau is being given the opportunity to move up the depth chart to see if he can recapture some of the chemistry he showed with Stone and Ryan during their Eastern Conference Final series against the Penguins.

Ceci shakes off hand injuries

After suffering a pair of broken fingers during the post-season, Sens defenceman Cody Ceci enters this season with his mitts at 100%.
"They all healed up pretty good this summer and they don't bug me anymore," said Ceci after this morning's skate. "It was just bad luck really. I took a shot off the hand and just got it in a bad spot. The second time it happened because it hadn't properly healed yet so it was kind of a freak accident."
As noted earlier, Ceci is set to skate alongside NHL veteran Johnny Oduya to start the pre-season and is looking forward to learning from the 2-time Stanley Cup champion.
"There's a ton of experience there," Ceci shared about his new defence partner. "He's a great guy to talk to and we're always discussing plays. I know I can always trust his opinion since he's been around for a while."
