We caught up with Sens centre Eric O'Dell after the team's morning skate prior to hosting the Buffalo Sabres in the back-end of a preseason home-and-home.
On centering Nick Paul and Shane Prince during the morning skate:
We had 5 lines and there were a lot of forwards out there and they we just kind of putting guys together but I thought we had a pretty good practice. We're trying to get used to each other but I have no clue if we're playing together tonight.
On playing on a line with other guys looking to make the NHL roster:
I know they're going to be going hard. No one really takes a drill off or a shift off so it's definitely good playing with these guys. When we're out there I know we're going to be skating hard.
On playing at Canadian Tire Centre after growing up in Ottawa:
That first game was kind of cool just knowing my friends and family were in the building. I was kind of nervous but I think just getting that game out of the way helped me calm down now and I'm ready for tonight.
On if he will have family and friends at tonight's game as well:
I think every game that I suit up for there's going to be a lot of people here so I'm happy about that. Knowing that there's someone watching every game is pretty cool.
His thoughts on his training camp so far:
I've only had the one game so far but I thought I played pretty well. The rest have just been practices and the fitness testing and I thought I also did pretty well. Every time I step on the ice for practice I try and go my hardest because they're in the stands watching. I think I'm doing pretty well.
His thoughts on the makeup of the team:
Coming in here I didn't really know anyone so it was kind of weird. I know the faces just from playing against them but there are a bunch of young guys here which makes it a lot easier. Everyone's cool and everyone has been bonding together. It's a pretty tight group so it's fun.
