The line of Mike Fisher, Daniel Alfredsson and Peter Schaefer continued to roll along during the Ottawa Senators' 5-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night, but it was a defenceman who led the way offensively.
Sophomore Andrej Meszaros scored his first two goals of the pre-season, including the game-winner, as Ottawa rebounded from a 7-3 defeat to Montreal in the Hockeyville game in Truro, N.S., on Monday. Meszaros was named the game's first star, Alfredsson was the second and Fisher the third. Alfredsson handed out three assists while Fisher recorded a goal and an assist. Peter Schaefer and Chris Neil rounded out the scoring for Ottawa.
Martin Gerber played his first complete game of the pre-season for the Senators and turned away 31 shots in the victory. Fellow Swiss native David Aebischer was in goal for Montreal, which received its scoring from Alexei Kovalev and Tomas Plekanec.
