OTTAWA - The
Ottawa Senators
announced today that the team has signed forward Alex Galchenyuk to a one-year contract. The agreement holds a value of $1.05M for the 2020-21 season.

A former 30 goal-scorer, Galchenyuk split the 2019-20 campaign with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Minnesota Wild posting 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) and 16 penalty minutes over a total of 59 regular-season games.
"Alex's signing represents another good addition for us at forward," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He's versatile in that he can play both left wing and centre. He's gifted offensively, has been a solid power-play contributor and is a proven goal scorer in this league."
A native of Milwaukee, Wisc., Galchenyuk, 26, will enter his ninth NHL campaign in 2020-21. Drafted by Montreal with the team's first-round selection (3rd overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft, he ranks third among Canadiens in both goals (108) and points (255) dating to his NHL debut on Jan. 19, 2013. Following a trade to Arizona ahead of the 2018-19 season, he tied for the Coyotes' lead with 19 goals and led the team in both power-play markers (nine) and power-play points (21) in the ensuing campaign.
Over 549 career NHL games with Montreal, Arizona, Pittsburgh and Minnesota, Galchenyuk has recorded 320 points (135 goals, 185 assists) and 201 penalty minutes. Internationally, he has represented the United States on two occasions and was a gold medal recipient at the 2013 WJC-U20 in Russia and a bronze medal winner at the 2013 IIHF World Championship in Sweden.
