Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki confirmed Monday he tore his MCL against the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 3 and will be out long term.
Borowiecki, who has one goal, one assist and 107 penalty minutes in 63 games this season, was injured on his only shift of the game. He won't need surgery and called his recovery week-to-week.
"It's going to heal up nice. No long-term effects," Borowiecki told the Senators website. "You can probably find tons of guys in this League who have done it and you come back fine."
Borowiecki has three goals, 14 points and 282 penalty minutes in 147 regular-season games over five seasons with the Senators.
