OTTAWA (March 9, 2017) - The Ottawa Senators and National Hockey League (NHL) today announced the NHL Centennial Fan Arena is coming to Ottawa, March 16, 18 and 19. An interactive traveling fan experience that will visit all NHL markets across North America in 2017, the NHL Centennial Fan Arena is part of the League's Centennial festivities honoring a century's worth of extraordinary players and teams, remarkable plays, and unforgettable moments.
Free of charge and open to fans of all ages, the NHL Centennial Fan Arena will visit Canadian Tire Centre on March 16 from 4 - 7:30 p.m. ET, prior to the Senators' home game versus the Chicago Blackhawks. Located in the plaza outside of the Gate 1 entrance to Canadian Tire Centre, fans will have the opportunity to visit the Museum Truck - the crown jewel of the NHL Centennial Fan Arena - and try the Clear the Ice Zamboni® VR Experience as well as much more.
On March 18 and 19, the NHL Centennial Fan Arena will be located inside Aberdeen Pavilion at 1000 Exhibition Way in Ottawa. Headlined by an appearance from the most revered trophy in all sports and weekend guest of honor - the Stanley Cup® - the NHL Centennial Fan Arena will also feature the Museum Truck, Entertainment Truck, The Rink (a pop-up ball hockey rink) and a viewing party for the Senators' game at the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
In addition to celebrating the League's Centennial, the NHL Centennial Fan Arena will also recognize the 25th anniversary of the Senators and the 125th anniversary of the Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup returns to Ottawa to commemorate the donation of the trophy by Lord Stanley of Preston, the sixth Governor General of Canada, to the Ottawa Hockey Club on March 18, 1892. This historic milestone is a cornerstone of the Senators' 25th NHL season, as well as the League's Centennial festivities.
The Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour will also be part of the weekend hockey festivities and will be located outside the Aberdeen Pavilion on March 18-19.
