Senators News mocks have Sens taking NHL pedigree

by Chris Lund / Ottawa Senators

If NHL pedigree is something you like in a prospect's family, you're going to like what the draft experts have in store for you.

The draft panel put out their latest prediction list last week, showcasing where they think this crop of prospects will head on June 30. With the top three picks split between Seth Jones, Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin almost exclusively — Aleksander Barkov makes an appearance as well — the rest of the board is wide open.

The three do seem to agree on their assessment of where the Sens will go, however, as all three have a forward and child of a former NHLer headed to Ottawa.

Take a look...

Max Domi — son of former enforcer Tie Domi — is a very skilled forward coming off a big year with the London Knights of the OHL. In 64 regular season games this season, Domi put up 87 points, up from 49 the year before. He is on the shorter side at 5-foot-10, but has plenty of skill to make up the difference.

Kerby Rychel — son of former NHLer and Ottawa 67 Warren Rychel — is also a big offensive producer at the OHL level, registering consecutive 40 goal seasons with the Windsor Spitfires. He is much more of the prototypical big-bodied power forward at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds and can clearly pot goals at a serious clip.

I'll have more in-depth previews for each of these players in the near future, but until then you can take note that at least a handful of pundits have the Sens looking to improve up front. The experience of getting to see their fathers go about their business at the NHL level probably doesn't hurt their cause either.
