OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today the return of the fan-friendly Sens Skills competition, presented by Sport Chek, which is set to take place at Canadian Tire Centre on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m.
Sens Skills will see the Senators split into two squads to compete head-to-head in various skill events including fastest skater and hardest shot. Senators alternate captain Chris Phillips will lead a team and take on a squad led by captain Erik Karlsson, as the players look to set new franchise records. Last year, forward Mika Zibanejad set a team record in the hardest shot competition with a blast that registered 106 miles per hour.
On behalf of Sport Chek, the Senators will donate this year’s net proceeds to the Ottawa Senators Foundation in support of the Sens R.I.N.K. project and the NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund.
Participating alongside the Senators will be 10 minor hockey skaters and two goaltenders from the National Capital Region. The 12 competitors will be chosen through the Senators Junior Skills Challenge presented by Canadian Tire.
