OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has signed forward Tobias Lindberg to a three-year entry-level contract.
Lindberg, 19, recently completed his first season of major junior hockey with the Ontario Hockey League’s Oshawa Generals registering 78 points (32 goals, 46 assists) and a plus/minus rating of +33 while appearing in all but one of his team’s 68 regular season games. He also skated in each of Oshawa’s 20 post-season contests in helping the Generals win the OHL Championship and qualify for, before ultimately winning, the Mastercard Memorial Cup. He registered five points (three goals, two assists), including at least one point in each of the Generals’ four games and an assist on the overtime winning in goal in Oshawa’s 2-1 win over Kelowna in the tournament finale.
A Stockholm native, the 6-2, 212-pound winger ranked third among Generals in regular-season scoring while finishing the 2014-15 season tied for 19th among all OHL players in points. He also registered 21 multi-point contests which included eight three-point games while his 19 post-season points (seven goals, 12 assists) saw him rank third among Oshawa skaters and eighth among all OHL players in playoff scoring.
A graduate of Sweden’s Djurgårdens’ program, Lindberg was drafted in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft and will participate in his third Senators’ development camp later this summer.
