OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has signed forward Francis Perron to a three-year entry-level contract.
Perron, 19, is in the midst of his fourth season of major junior hockey with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and has registered 107 points (41 goals, 66 assists) and a plus/minus rating of +40 while appearing in 61 of his team’s 66 regular season games to date this season. With a five-point effort (one goal, four assists) in a 7-1 Huskies’ victory at Victoriaville on March 4, he moved into sole possession of third place among all-time Huskies in scoring.
A native of Blainville, Que., the 6-0, 165-pound winger is likely to conclude the season ranking second among QMJHL players in points while helping Rouyn-Noranda capture the league’s Jean Rougeau Trophy as regular-season champion. His 256 career points (93 goals, 163 assists) over 250 major junior games (all of which have occurred with Rouyn-Noranda) see him trail only Nashville Predators forward, Mike Ribeiro, (296) and Jerome Tremblay (335) among all-time Huskies in scoring.
The Senators second seventh-round selection (190th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Perron will participate in his third Senators’ development camp this summer.
