OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has signed forward Buddy Robinson to a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry an annual value of $750,000 in the National Hockey League and $75,000 in the American Hockey League.
A native of Bellmawr, N.J., the 6-6, 232-pound Robinson completed his third full professional season in 2015-16 after originally signing a three-year entry-level contract with Ottawa on March 25, 2013. In 62 games with the B-Sens last season, he registered 23 points (13 goals, 10 assists) in addition to 66 penalty minutes.
On April 4, Robinson was recalled to the NHL for the first time and made his debut with Ottawa the following evening against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He recorded his first NHL goal, the game-winner, on April 7, in Ottawa’s 3-1 home win over the Florida Panthers. In three NHL games, he registered two points (one goal, one assist) and four penalty minutes.
Signed as a collegiate free agent following his sophomore season with Lake Superior State University, Robinson, 24, has appeared in 212 American Hockey League contests (all of which have occurred with the B-Sens), recording 92 points (42 goals, 50 assists) and 192 penalty minutes.
