News Release: Senators recall Fredrik Claesson and Michael Kostka from Binghamton (AHL)

by Staff Writer / Ottawa Senators

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has recalled defencemen Fredrik Claesson and Michael Koskta from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

This is the first career recall for Claesson, 23, who has recorded eight points (two goals) and 38 penalty minutes in 29 games with the B-Sens this season. The 6-1, 205-pound native of Stockholm was the Senators’ fifth-round pick (126th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.

This is the second recall of the season for Kostka, who joined the Senators on Nov. 21 and then was returned to Binghamton on Nov. 29, without seeing NHL game action. The 29-year-old has scored one goal and added 11 assists for 12 points in 23 games with a team-best +10 rating.

Both Claesson and Kostka played for Binghamton last night in its 2-1 shootout victory over Lehigh Valley.
