OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has recalled forward Matt Puempel from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. The NHL recall is the first of his career.

Puempel, 22, is in the midst of his second full campaign with the B-Sens and ranks third in team scoring with 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists) while having appeared in each of the club’s 51 regular-season games to date this season.

A native of Essex, Ont., Puempel has recorded 81 points (43 goals, 38 assists) and 127 penalty minutes over 136 career AHL games, all of which have occurred with the B-Sens. He was originally selected by Ottawa with the team’s third first-round selection, 24th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft.

The Senators return to action on Saturday when they host the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m.
