OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today forward Clarke MacArthur and defenceman Dion Phaneuf will each miss the reminder of the regular season.
MacArthur has been rehabilitating from a effects of concussion that has limited him to four games this season. The decision was made in combination with team management and team doctors. While MacArthur has passed the baseline test and is medically cleared to play, all sides determined that the best course of action was to return to action at the start of the 2016-17 season.
Phaneuf missed Ottawa’s the last two games while tending to an oblique injury and soreness in his right foot. While initial x-rays on the foot were negative, further testing revealed a hairline fracture, sufferred while blocking a shot on March 12. The fracture will keep him out for the season, but will not impact his summer training regimine.
Both players will be available to the media following Ottawa’s practice on Monday.
