OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today their continued support of the Canadian Armed Forces, with a friendly game on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. between the Senators Alumni and a group from the Soldier On (@SoliderOnCan) program. Solider On is a Canadian Armed Forces program that supports currently serving members and veterans to overcome their physical or mental health illness or injury through physical activity and sport.
The group from Solider On were guests of the Senators at Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Kings and will hit the ice at Canadian Tire Centre at 4 p.m. today for a game against the Senators Alumni.
Members of the Senators Alumni expected to participate in the Soldier On game later today include: Radek Bonk, Laurie Boschman, Ron Tugnutt, Pat Kavanagh, Doug Smith, Mark Cavallin, Chris Valentine, Dan McGillis, Jean Payette, Kevin Kemp, Rick Smith, Kent Manderville, Bryan Richardson and Larry Skinner (roster subject to change).
Hero’s Ridge honouring Canadian Armed Forces members at each Senators home game
In addition to the Soldier On game and the team’s annual Canadian Forces Appreciation Night, the Senators have announced a new initiative for the 2015-16 National Hockey League season, called Hero’s Ridge. A 400-level suite has been specially converted into a special suite that will be used to host families of the Canadian military during each Senators home game. During the 2015-16 season, the suite will be presented by Lépine, a local builder of luxury apartments, including the award-winning William’s Court community in Kanata. Lépine shares the Senators’ passion for our Canadian Armed Forces and offers CF members military-specific rental programs. On each game night, the guests in Hero’s Ridge will receive a special welcome to Canadian Tire Centre on the Bell HD Screen.
