OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today the club has agreed to terms with free agent goaltender Matt O’Connor on a two-year entry-level contract. O’Connor recently completed his collegiate career, leading his Boston University Terriers to the NCAA Championship Game, where they fell 4-3 to Providence.
“We are very excited to welcome Matt to the Senators family,” said Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray. “Matt is a fine example of both the type of player and person that our organization looks for when we are acquiring talent. We are confident that under the tutelage of our player development staff, Matt will have the opportunity to develop into an outstanding National Hockey League goaltender.”
O’Connor, 23, posted a 25-4-4 record with a .927 save percentage and a 2.18 goals-against average in 35 games with the Terriers this season. The 6-5, 204-pound, Toronto native has worn the Senators jersey previously, as he took part in Ottawa’s 2011 Development Camp as an undrafted free agent.
