OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion announced today the hiring of Kristopher Young as video coach.

Young, 40, joins Ottawa’s coaching staff composed of head coach Guy Boucher, associate coach Marc Crawford, assistant coach Rob Cookson and goaltending coach Pierre Groulx.

A native of South Porcupine, Ont., Young worked most recently for the Ontario Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs where he served as video coach and director of marketing. As video coach, he was responsible for analytical research coordination pertaining to the Bulldogs while assisting with the pre-scout of their opponents.

In conjunction with his time at the Bulldogs, Young has also served as video coach for Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Teams since 2011 and helped Team Canada earn a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, in addition to winning a silver medal at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Ottawa. He was also the recipient of a gold medal after working with Team Canada at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship in Finland.

Prior to working with Hockey Canada, Young worked as video coach with the American Hockey League’s version of the Bulldogs from 2006 to 2010 where he helped Hamilton win the Calder Cup in 2007 before working alongside Boucher with the club during the 2009-10 season.

The Senators also announced today that Tim Pattyson has been assigned to another position within the team’s hockey operations department which will see him oversee analytical and statistical research and development in addition to the evaluation of potential trades or free agent signings.
