With the playoffs just over a month away, Senators head coach Bryan Murray likes the way his team is performing right now.

With a record of 21-4-3 over the last 28 games, Senators head coach Bryan Murray is obviously pleased with his team's success . It's how it's winning the games that impresses him most.

"The early part of the year we talked about having a hard-working, disciplined team," Murray says. "It took a little while, but the guys have bought in. I'm real pleased with the attitude, the work ethic. The guys are working hard in the game, they're working hard in practice, and obviously you're having fun when you win the game."

Murray has seen his lineup develop into a cohesive unit that he feels is suited for playoff hockey.

"I think last year we had the ability to turn a game around in two shifts. I don't know that we have the same opportunity right now, but we are more ready to be a good team. As a group we're more solid, more consistent, more predictable. I believe we're more disciplined, have a more hard-nosed approach and certainly a better feel of a team. It's nice to have great individuals but it's better to have a good team. I think we're able to play a playoff style more now than we could in the past."

During the team's current winning streak goaltenders Ray Emery and Martin Gerber have shone. Murray says it's important to have both guys going as the playoffs approach.

"That's a great luxury, there's no question," Murray says. "If we continue to get that type of play (from both goaltenders), it gives us a chance to win every night."

Says Gerber: "We're the same as the players, we're just trying to keep things as simple as possible. We just want to give our team a chance to win, and to try and steal a game once in a while."
