Senators general manager Bryan Murray offered up his thoughts regarding the arbitrator's ruling on Alex Chiasson's one-year, $1.2 million contract...
Murray on the arbitration process:
The arbitration process went as we expected - we had the opportunity to make our case, as did Alex’s group. In our opinion, both sides made fair, detailed arguments and we are satisfied with the ruling of the arbitrator.
On Chiasson's role moving forward:
We are happy to have Alex under contract and anticipate that he will be a productive player for us this season. Alex will be given the chance to have an important role in the team’s success.
Chiasson, who was acquired by the Sens along with Nick Paul, Alex Guptill and a second-round pick from the Dallas Stars in exchange for Jason Spezza and Ludwig Karlsson last summer, finished his first season in Ottawa with 11 goals, 15 assists for 26 points in 76 games played.
