Mike Hoffman on his game winner vs. Columbus

by Chris Lund / Ottawa Senators

Mike Hoffman was named the first star of the game on Saturday night as he recorded the game winning goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets and picked up an assist on David Legwand's first period goal. He talked about the play that led to his winner against 2013 Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky after the game.

"We just had a breakout, Neiler chipped one off the glass and we got a lucky bounce that hit the glass and popped to me in the middle," said Hoffman. "I was going to look for Legwand initially but their D kind of jumped towards him. I came in and tried to go shortside over his shoulder."

"You want to be scoring goals, that's the point of the game, if it's against a good goalie it feels pretty good too."
