Marc Methot post-practice - 12.15.2013

by Chris Lund / Ottawa Senators

Marc Methot took part in his first on-ice practice on Sunday after sitting out games on Saturday and Thursday with the flu. He updated his condition after the skate.

Here's what he had to say...

On his condition:

I practiced today, I felt good on the ice and I did a bit of a light workout yesterday. They wanted me to get a practice in before I played so I'm sure that had something to do with yesterday. I'm ready to go it's just a matter of waiting on the coach to call me back in.

On what kept him out:

I had some serious stomach issues and I lost a lot of weight. It wasn't fun, it took a while to get that weight back on and I piled it back on yesterday. I'm still down a little bit but I feel much better and my energy is back up so that's good…I lost seven pounds and over two days that's quite a bit. I've got guys like (Chris) Schwarz back there that are on top of it for me and telling me what to eat and what not to eat and with Gerry Townend he was great too, he was texting back and forth with me when it started up in the middle of the night before the other game against Buffalo at home. I started texting him and he got back to me right away and that was awesome.

On his health:

I didn't get sick once all last year, I was fine, I was healthy so I don't know what's going on. Just a little bit of bad luck I'm assuming.

On the recovery:

Three quarters of coming back on to the ice isn't flushing the virus out it's piling that weight back on and getting rehydrated. You can't just sit at home and drink five bottles of water and be okay, it doesn't work that way. It takes a little time and I'm glad to be back.

On Ceci's play:

He was awesome, I've known Ceci for a while too, he's an Ottawa guy too. I remember watching him a little bit when he was with the 67's. He's a great player and I was real happy for him especially in that first game, I really got to watch him when I was at home. He impressed me.
