Robin Lehner will make the first full game appearance for a Sens goaltender in this pre-season tonight as he is currently slated to play a full 60 minutes in Toronto. Lehner played 40 minutes earlier this pre-season in Winnipeg when the Sens beat the Jets.
Here's what he had to say about tonight's game...
It feels very good, I think I'm getting into it more and more and every pre-season is like that. I'm starting to get my legs back and some quickness and reflexes, small stuff is obviously a little bit more to do, there's always going to be some detail stuff, but it's going in the right direction.
On his play reading:
I think that's one of the things I developed most last year was trying to slow down my game a bit and not being over aggressive. Being a little more patient, trying to read the plays in the net and trying to be a little bit ahead mentally.
On if there's a mental change with the full game:
No, not really, before it was just the body that needs to get into the game and the ice and it's pretty good to just get 40. Now I think we're all ready to get into some minutes and get into some games and get ready.
On his career progression:
I'm happy with it. Satisfied? I don't know when I will be satisfied. When I'm satisfied I won't play much more. You take what you get and I'm happy with how it has gone since I came over four years ago to Sault Ste. Marie. It has been one step forward every time. I had one year where I took a few steps back but I had a few good games up here. It's all about learning experience and getting through it. You're going to have ups and downs, you just move on.
On his next level:
Just get better and try to contribute to the team as much as possible. Just taking the minutes that I get and we'll see where it takes me.
