2:00 PM: Sens defenceman Marc Methot spoke with the media today prior to facing the Jets tonight. Here are his pre-game thoughts via Sens TV...
On if he believes the Sens have the potential to make the playoffs:
I think there is and I think we believe that too. Being an NHL hockey player that's your goal at the start of the season; to make the post-season. Right now, there's hope. Especially with the fact that we're on a run right now, we're playing great hockey, we've got some great goaltending happening for us and even all the young guys are playing great too. You never know, anything can happen at this point.
On feeling the fatigue from the team's current road trip:
There's not question that there is fatigue right now. That's evident. With all the travel we've been doing going in to the last game of the trip. But at the same time we're coming in to this game with quite a bit of confidence. We're feeling pretty good about ourselves. Obviously we don't want to get complacent and assume that everything is going to go great. I think the start of the game tonight is going to be extremely important and if we can weather that and hang around for a little while I think we'll give ourselves a good chance.
12:35 PM: Quick line-up note to pass along from the coach...
8:30 AM: The Ottawa Senators wrap-up their current road trip tonight against the Winnipeg Jets. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Sens visit Winnipeg after earning a point in last night's 3-2 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild. Mika Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan scored for the Senators while Andrew Hammond turned aside 36 of the 38 shots he faced in defeat. The Sens currently sit 11th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 27-23-11.
The Jets are coming off a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers, Andrew Ladd (x2) and Blake Wheeler all scored for Winnipeg while Michael Hutchinson made 18 saves to earn the victory. The Jets' record currently sits at 32-20-12 which is good for 5th in the Western Conference.
These teams last faced-off way back on November 8th where the Jets were able to outlast the Sens 2-1 in a shootout. Here are the full highlights from that contest...
The Sens will hit the ice for their morning skate today and I'll have plenty of updates to follow including, but not limited to, lineup changes, players' thoughts, Sens TV videos, Instagram goodness and more.
