Gameday Journal: Game 5 Maple Leafs vs. Senators

by Chris Lund / Ottawa Senators

1:40 PM: Tonight's game between the Senators and Maple Leafs has been postponed due to the events which have taken place in downtown Ottawa today.

10:00 AM: The Ottawa Senators are back at it tonight after a three day layoff when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at Canadian Tire Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Senators won their fourth game in a row on Saturday night with a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Mike Hoffman was named first star in the win for a performance which included a goal and an assist. David Legwand and Erik Karlsson also scored for Ottawa while Robin Lehner stopped 38 shots.

The Maple Leafs will play the second leg of a back-to-back tonight after they beat the New York Islanders by a 5-2 score last night. Phil Kessel scored a pair of goals while James van Riemsdyk, Roman Polak and David Clarkson all scored goals for the Leafs while Jonathan Bernier stopped 34 of 36 Islanders shots. Toronto enters tonight's game with a 3-3-1 record.

The Sens will hit the ice for their morning skate today at 10:15 a.m. and I'll have plenty of updates to follow including, but not limited to, lineup changes, players' thoughts, Sens TV videos, Instagram goodness and more.

Stay tuned!
