3:20 PM: Get set for puck drop with Gord Wilson and the best Sens preview in the business.
3:00 PM: Here's what Paul MacLean had to say prior to today's game...
On today's lineup:
Gryba's out, Wiercioch is in and we're going to hold MacArthur out of the game today and play Pageau.
On MacArthur's status:
He has a minor injury and we just want to make sure it doesn't grow into something bigger, so we're going to just maintenance it today... I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but he felt some aggravation obviously yesterday when he didn't practice. We want to give it a chance to get healed up so it's not going to be something that'll be long lasting and make it chronic.
When he brings energy and he's good in the faceoff circle and helps us killing penalties is when he's at his best. The injury he had slowed him down and we expect him to get back in the lineup and bring lots of the energy and speed that he brings to the rink.
On MacArthur's play:
He's been a very consistent player, we have no issues with Clarke at all. I think after we play 82 games we're going to find that he has plenty of goals and points and statistics that we're going to like. We're very pleased with how he has played.
On where Pageau slots in:
At centre ice with, right now I believe I wrote it down as Grant, Pageau and Condra on a line.
2:45 PM: Here are tonight's projected lineups for the Senators and Sharks...
Michalek - Spezza - Zibanejad
Conacher - Turris - Ryan
Greening - Smith - Neil
Grant - Pageau - Condra
Karlsson - Methot
Phillips - Wiercioch
Cowen - Corvo
San Jose Sharks
Hertl - Thornton - Hamilton
Kennedy - Couture - Marleau
Nieto - Pavelski - Wingels
McCarthy - Desjardins - Brown
Vlasic - Braun
Irwin - Stuart
Hannan - Demers
1:15 PM: Paul MacLean announced yesterday that Craig Anderson would get the start in goal today.
In nine career games against the Sharks — all starts — Anderson is 3-6-0 with a 3.15 GAA and .913 save percentage. He has yet to face San Jose this season as Robin Lehner started for the Sens during their game earlier this month.
12:00 PM: In today's Gameday Goodie, Gord Wilson catches up with Derek Grant after he played back at Joe Louis Arena this week for the first time since his college career at Michigan St.
10:00 AM: After a disappointing loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night, the Sens will have another crack right away at a Western opponent when they host the San Jose Sharks at Canadian Tire Centre.
The game marks the sixth annual time the Sens have hosted Hockey Fights Cancer night here in Ottawa and today's game will be in support of this league-wide initiative. In addition to the fundraising going on in the arena, Sens fans are also being encouraged to support the initiative by picking up an "I fight for" card and write the name of a loved one who has been touched by the disease. The cards will be displayed amongst fans during the game's opening ceremony.
Those of you who cannot join us today can print off your own at home, take a picture and share it with us on Twitter (@Senators #HockeyFightsCancer) or Facebook in our comment thread. Get your card here.
Today's guests are the top team in hockey thus far with a 9-1-1 record, a 4-1-1 mark on the road, and are coming off of a win last night in Montreal.
Paul MacLean will update the media on the team this afternoon at 2:30 at Canadian Tire Centre. I'll have plenty of updates to follow including, but not limited to, lineup changes, players thoughts on tonight's game, Sens TV updates, Instagram goodness and more.
