Game Six: Senators vs. Coyotes

by Chris Lund / Ottawa Senators

6:30 PM: Gord Wilson gets you ready for tonight's game with the best Sens game preview in the business...

6:00 PM: Craig Anderson gets the start in goal against Phoenix tonight. Here's what he had to say ahead of tonight's game...

5:00 PM: What's it like to take on your brother in an NHL game? Most of us can't even imagine, but Milan Michalek has done in 35 times to-date. He's the subject of today's Gameday Goodie ahead of tonight's game when he takes on, you guessed it, Zbynek Michalek and the Coyotes.

4:30 PM: Here's what Sens head coach Paul MacLean had to say ahead of tonight's game with the Coyotes...

On tonight's lineup:

We're going to have Matt Kassian go in for Stephane Da Costa and Gryba go in for Joe Corvo. Craig Anderson will be the goaltender.

On putting the Sunday game behind them:

Well we did an awful lot of work on it but I agree that we just have to move on from it. I think if we do a good job here today and win a game we'll go home with a .500 record on the road and any time you do that in this league or any league that's considered a good road trip. There have been some growing pains along the way obviously in the first five games of this trip, but if we can find our game here tonight and win and go home at .500 we'll feel pretty good about ourselves.

On keeping things simple:

Well our style of play is relatively simple but we just have to make sure we do it long enough. We've done it in certain parts of every game but we've got to put together a solid 60 minutes where we're playing our game. The opposition is going to have times in the game where they're playing their game as well but for us we haven't been consistent through the 60 minutes a team that's sticking to or playing our game the longest. When you do that you usually win the game.

On defensive improvement:

Well we have to play together a little bit more and not play there as much. Winning faceoffs and establishing a forecheck game or offensive zone play in their end is part of our style of play. We want to limit the amount of time we play in our end.

On Turris fitting in better in Ottawa:

Well I can't speak to how he played here, but I know that since he has come to Ottawa he has been professional in everything that we've asked him to do and I think he's three years older than when he was here too, which I think makes a significant difference for anybody. So for us he has been a player who that has come in and we've given him an opportunity. There's an opportunity for him to play in Ottawa and play more minutes and I think that along with his maturity has brought him to where he is now where he's a very good, dependable player.

On style differences between the Sens and Coyotes:

I think we play a little bit different game than the Coyotes do, but when you're a good player you can play in any system. I think that had Kyle stayed here and matured here and three years he'd still probably be a pretty good player on their team. If you're a good player in one place you're usually a good player somewhere else too. I think the biggest thing for Kyle has been that he's three years older.
