Game Day 5: Senators @ Sabres

by Craig Medaglia / Ottawa Senators

Here are 5 things you need to know before tonight's home preseason game against the Buffalo Sabres.

1. Line-up

The tinkering continues as the preseason rolls on. Sens head coach Dave Cameron mentioned during his post-skate media availability that while some lines may look familiar to last season tonight, they could very well change the next shift as the team looks for combinations that click. You can find the roster for tonight's game here.

Some line-up notes for tonight...

  • A few Sens will be making their preseason debuts tonight. Marc Methot and Mark Stone have both been inactive to date.
  • Here's how the forward lines looked during this morning's skate although some decisions still need to made regarding some scratches...
  • MacArthur - Turris -Stone

    Hoffman -Zibanejad - Ryan

    Chiasson - Smith - Neil

    Prince - O'Dell - Paul

    Michalek - Pageau - Lazar

    2. Goalies

To match the team's veteran heavy line-up up front, the Sens turn to Craig Anderson in goal tonight. The coach also mentioned during his media availability that Anderson is expected to play the full game.

The Sabres are deploying the tandem of Chad Johnson and Andrey Makarov tonight. No starter has been named as of yet.

    3. Last meeting

These teams last met earlier this week with the Sens coming out on top 5-2 in Buffalo. Ryan Dzingel lead the way for the Sens with a goal and two assists while Alec Chiasson, Max McCormick and Zack Stortini all added a goal and an assist. Matt O'Connor was perfect during the first half of the game stopping all 18 shots he faced.
