Quotes from the event:

Erik Karlsson:

It's a privilege for us to do something special for these kids especially during the holidays. It's something that we do every year and it's one of those events that we always look forward too. There's so much positive energy in here and at the same time its tough to see what the kids and their families have to go through. For us, it's more about giving something back and we take a lot of honour in doing that. We know how special it is for them and it really makes us appreciate what we do even more.

Bobby Ryan:

Guys do a lot of things on their own in the community but when you can get everyone together and in such a positive atmosphere likes this, it's an important day for the group. I think everyone looks forward to this event more than some of the others. It's incredibly rewarding, it puts things into perspective and it gives you a chance to hopefully spread a little bit of holiday cheer.

Chris Neil:

The kids actually lift us up when we come down here. You see all these families and what they're going through and when we walk through that door you see their smiles and hear their cheers. I cheer back for them because to see what they battle through and they still give the effort to applaud us. They're the real heroes here.

Curtis Lazar:

You go through the rigors of a hockey season, especially what we've gone through the past couple of days, and it's nice to get away and just get our minds off hockey a little bit. Seeing what these kids go through really helps to put everything into perspective. I was talking with one kid and he played three hockey games with a ruptured appendix and he had no idea. That's a tough kid right there. So we're here to show our support for these kids and seeing the smiles on their faces really makes it all worth while.

Chris Phillips:

We get to see what a lot of these kids and families are going through, some pretty big battles, and it's nice for us to be able to come in here and put the smiles on their faces for a couple of hours. We get to see that it makes a difference.
