Senators prospect Darren Kramer went out in style during the team's third and final rookie tournament game. After it was announced that Kramer would wear the C against the Blackhawks, he followed up the news with a goal, an assist and a pair of fights. Here's what he had to say about his performance...
On his Gordie Howe hat trick:
Well I was an assist shy from it in the first game so it was nice to come in here and get that. The only one left was the goal heading into the third period, my linemates played awesome. I think Perron was a plus-4 tonight and was on for all four of them so it really helped playing with those guys.
On finishing with a winning record:
Winning makes it a lot of fun and we've always had success at these tournaments, even before I started playing here. It's the third one now so you want to make it successful, especially being an older guy. You're expected to be a leader and Freddy and all those guys did a good job. It was tough to lose the first one, especially with the lead but it was nice to finish on a high note and get those two wins.
On preparing for main camp:
This is always a good little start and a good grooming to get your groove and to get into game shape before training camp.
