Coach MacLean post-game - 3.28.2013
by Chris Lund / Ottawa Senators
It was a tightly played game between the Sens and Rangers with not a ton separating the two teams, but ultimately tighter defensive play won in the end as the Sens escaped with a 3-0 victory.
While the Rangers had plenty of possession time at various points of the game, they ultimately couldn't break down an aggressive Sens defensive system to generate many meaningful scoring chances. The Sens also held up on the PK, killing all four Rangers penalties and generating a handful of shorthanded chances.
When the Sens had their occasional breakdown, Ben Bishop made the crucial stops. He put a jolt in the Scotiabank Place crowd with a diving stop on the short side and found a way to quash any Rangers offence. He was named the first star of the game and deservedly so.
Here's a Twitter rundown of what Coach MacLean had to say...
