Sens defenceman Chris Phillips has missed the team's last two games with a lower body injury and appears set to rejoin the lineup Thursday against Winnipeg. He updated his status after Wednesday's practice.
Here's what he had to say...
On his status:
I feel good, I'm ready to go, we'll find out tomorrow.
On if the break has been helpful:
That's what has come of it, you take the positive out of it, I'd rather not have gotten hurt and keep playing but that's the reality. It has been a little bit of extra time to heal up and be fresh and ready to go.
On the team's play over the last two games:
I think being very simple, playing a simple game. Getting the pucks deep, forechecking, not having as many turnovers at bad areas or bad situations that turn into odd man rushes where the risk/reward isn't very good. It hasn't been a turnaround of fancy, nice plays, it's just playing a simple game.
On the expectations for the second half:
I think consistency is probably the best answer. It's not like we've been searching all year to find our game, we've found it, we've just had trouble being consistent in that game showing up every night. If we do that no more often we'll put ourselves in a better spot.
