Since we weren't able to chat with him at the Draft, we caught up with Sens fourth-round pick Todd Burgess during the physical testing on Day 1 of Development Camp...
Where he was when he heard he was drafted by the Sens:
I got to spend it with some close friends and family so it was a special day for me and it was obviously a dream come true.
His expectations going in to the NHL Draft:
My agent said that there was a chance so I didn't get my hopes up too high and then I finally got that call and it was just such a surreal feeling for me.
On not attending the Draft:
I decided to spend it with some of my close friends and family in Arizona so I would rather do that and get to spend that day with them.
His thoughts on the city and organization since arriving in Ottawa:
From what I've seen it's a great place. Great weather, great town...I like it here.
On not being intimidating coming in to development camp:
It's my first year so I can use this as a base for what to expect next year and get better throughout the season so I can continue to improve.
On being fully recovered from his injury in 2014:
I hurt my knee but I've got it back to where it needs to be.
His plan for next season and playing college hockey at RPI:
Starting with the summer, it's a big off-season for me. I need to get bigger and stronger for that next level so I can be an impact player my freshman year.
On getting on the ice later today:
It's good to be back on the ice for a full week and get back into the hockey routine.
