Busy day at Scotiabank Place

by Staff Writer / Ottawa Senators
OTTAWA - While the Senators were getting ready to face the Boston Bruins tonight, Scotiabank Place played host to more than 700 minor hockey coaches for the Tim Horton's Coaches Clinic. Senators assistant coach Greg Carvel, pictured describing one of the team’s drills to Gord Wilson, participated in the annual event, which is part of the Ottawa Senators Team Hockey Country program.

Off the ice at Scotiabank Place, 350 hockey parents, coaches, trainers and administrators attended a Hockey Canada seminar on concussions. Senators head coach John Paddock and centre Jason Spezza addressed the group during the morning session.

For tonight’s Northeastern Division match-up, Paddock announced that Martin Gerber will get the start in goal, but did not confirm any other roster changes from Thursday’s win over the Atlanta Thrashers. Spezza, who is nursing a groin injury, skated for about 15 minutes after the team’s practice.

Fewer than 250 tickets remain for tonight’s game.
