OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators’ year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club’s community schedule from Friday, Nov. 25, to Thursday, Dec. 1.
United Way Achievement Celebration
Ottawa Senators president, Cyril Leeder will be attending the United Way Achievement Celebration on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. at the Canadian Museum of Nature.
Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards
The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club is a finalist for Company of the Year at the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards. Representatives from the Senators at this event will include president Cyril Leeder; Erin Crowe, executive vice-president and chief financial officer; Jeff Kyle, vice-president, marketing, and Mark Bonneau, senior vice-president, corporate and ticketing sales. This event will take place in the evening of Dec. 1 at the Ottawa Convention Centre.
The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Kettle campaign comes to Scotiabank Place on Sunday, Nov. 27, when the Senators face the Carolina Hurricanes at 5 p.m. Representatives from the Salvation Army will be stationed throughout the building from 3:30 p.m. through the end of the second period, collecting donations at each entrance. The campaign runs through Dec. 24 and all money raised will fund local programs benefitting more than 5,000 families.
The Snowsuit Fund is an Ottawa-based charity that raises funds to purchase and distribute snowsuits to needy children, ages 15 years and under, in the local community. During the 2010-2011 season, the charity distributed more than 15,000 new snowsuits to needy recipients. Donations toward the Snowsuit Fund will be accepted at Gate 1 prior to the start of the game against Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 27.
Senators Alumni Road Game Parties
Throughout the 2011-12 regular season, the Senators will be holding Road Game Parties at Boston Pizza restaurants throughout the Ottawa area. A Senators alumni member will be on hand from the start of the game through the first intermission, mingling with fans and signing autographs at each event.
Friday, Nov. 25, at Pittsburgh at 7 p.m.
Senators Alumni member Ted Bulley will be at Boston Pizza at 135 Roland Michener Dr. in Kanata.
Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Winnipeg at 8:30 p.m.
Senators Alumni member Frank St. Marseille will be at Boston Pizza at 1640 Carling Ave. in Ottawa.
Spartacat, the Senators’ ambassador of fun, will make a store visit to McDaniels Your Independent Grocer (200 Grant Carman, Nepean) on Saturday Nov. 26 from noon to 1 p.m.
