The Ottawa Senators’ year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club’s community schedule from Friday, Feb. 26, to Thursday, March 4.
Senators to Launch Shoot for 60 Active Living Program
The Senators will launch “Shoot For 60,” their four-week active living program at Stittsville Public School (40 Granite Ridge Road, Stittsville, Ont.) on Monday, March 1, at 2:05 p.m. in an assembly featuring students from kindergarten to Grade 5. Shoot For 60 challenges students to record the amount of time they spend participating in physical activity each day for the month of March, with the goal of being active for 60 minutes each day.
Senators defenceman Matt Carkner
will be in attendence along with Carolyn Waldo of CTV Ottawa, who is an Olympic Gold medalist. Students will be invited to participate in an interactive question and answer session focusing on the importance and benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle.
13th Annual Tim Hortons Timbits Jamboree
Scotiabank Place will host the 13th Annual Tim Hortons Timbits Jamboree on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. More than 3,000 Timbits players will be participating in on-ice games as in addition to an assortment of off-ice activities throughout the day.Spartacat appearances
Spartacat, the Senators’ ambassador of fun, will be attending the Tim Horton’s Timbits Jamboree on Saturday Feb. 27, at Scotiabank Place. Spartacat will make three appearances throughout the day. Sparty’s first appearance will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., while the second will be from 11 a.m. to noon. Sparty’s final appearance of the day will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Spartacat will then be at Stittsville Public School on Monday, March 1, at 2:05 p.m., as the Senators launch “Shoot For 60,” their four-week active living program.
