Bulletin: Senators To Open Scotiabank Place 2008-09 Schedule Against Detroit

by Staff Writer / Ottawa Senators
OTTAWA – While the Ottawa Senators will open the 2008-09 season outside of North America when they play the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Stockholm, the club will open its Scotiabank Place schedule against the Stanley Cup-champions Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.

The Senators’ 2008-09 regular-season schedule will feature games against each National Hockey League team. In addition to home games against Eastern Conference and division rivals Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, this year’s schedule includes three non-conference home-and-home series against the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks.

The Senators did not play against any Canadian Western Conference teams in 2007-08. The Senators welcomed the teams in 2006-07 and travelled west in 2005-06. The last home-and-home series was during the 2003-04 season.

The NHL will release its full schedule tomorrow.
